The future maritime history museum of Saint-Malo aspires to offer an immersive and contemporary visitor journey, rooted in the founding stories of the corsair city. Blending myth and reality, the experience will revolve around a sensitive and well-documented multimedia narrative, designed to reveal the contrasts of Saint-Malo's history: glory and destruction, conquest and ecology, corsair legends and maritime reality. Public surveys highlight strong expectations for interactive and immersive systems capable of renewing interpretation methods and opening the museum to a broader audience.

As part of the consortium led by Atelier Construire and Du&Ma, reciproque developed a custom multimedia approach, integrated into the scenographic vision and in close dialogue with objects and narratives. The project favors an embedded aesthetic with a minimal visual footprint, avoiding spectacular effects in favor of a sensory and contextualized storytelling.

The tour features participatory and contributive elements: dialogues with avatars, testimony collection, and fantastic tales emerging from the scenography. Our proposal is to create a living, evolving digital space connected to current maritime and environmental topics. Multimedia thus becomes a medium for dialogue between the past and today’s challenges, between residents, visitors, and the territory.

In line with its low-carbon approach and aesthetic coherence, the project is committed to a sober and practically low-tech design. The team worked hand in hand with the client and scenographers to ensure the harmony of content, interfaces, and forms.

The project was not selected during the competition.
