Produced by the Cinémathèque Française in partnership with the Avatar Alliance Foundation, the exhibition The Art of James Cameron runs from April 4, 2024, to January 5, 2025, at the Cinémathèque Française.

The exhibition celebrates the creative genius of James Cameron—one of the most influential directors, screenwriters, producers, and inventors in the history of cinema. The Art of James Cameron offers visitors a journey through six decades of groundbreaking work, featuring a unique collection of rare and previously unseen pieces from the filmmaker’s private archive. The exhibition explores the evolution of his visionary ideas, which have culminated in some of the most iconic and modern classics in film history, including TerminatorAliensTitanic, and Avatar.

The Cinémathèque enlisted reciproque to design and produce the exhibition’s interactive and immersive digital installations. Among them is an immersive room inspired by one of Cameron’s early drawings reminiscent of the Avataruniverse, transformed into a real-time interactive installation. reciproque also designed and developed a multi-user interactive timeline that showcases the chronology of James Cameron’s cinematic technological innovations. Using interactive projection technology, the timeline invites visitors to explore major themes spanning over 50 years of research and development.

reciproque was responsible for the artistic direction of the interactive installations, the functional and graphic design of the devices, documentary and visual research, and interactive development.

reciproque partnered with Cosmo AV for the technical direction and development of the real-time interactive system for the immersive room. The exhibition was designed by Agence NC.
