Museum of Sufi Art and Culture
Design and production of digital mediation devices for the permanent exhibition

The first museum entirely dedicated to Sufism, its heritage, and artistic expression, the MTO™ Museum of Sufi Art and Culture (MACS MTO) seeks to create a dialogue between this centuries-old spiritual tradition, contemporary art, and today’s pressing questions.
At the intersection of a collection composed of artworks, everyday objects, and rare manuscripts, multidisciplinary artistic creation, and contemporary issues, the museum positions itself in a unique way within both the national and international landscape of cultural and artistic institutions—guided by a spirit of openness, sharing, discovery, and inclusivity.

The museum commissioned reciproque to design and produce the digital mediation elements for its permanent exhibition. These were conceived as spaces for encounter, reflection, and introspection—offering visitors an intimate experience that reveals the history of Sufism, its universal scope, and its contemporary relevance.
From this close collaboration with the museum's team emerged three bespoke sound installations, a series of podcasts and a curated playlist (artistic direction by Kerwin Rolland), a film on calligraphy directed by Cédric Scherer, an animated map tracing the spread of Sufism, and an interactive interface introducing the Silsila (spiritual lineage), all integrated into the exhibition design by Maciej Fiszer’s studio.
The sound design was carefully crafted and spatialized for each installation, in keeping with the central role of music in Sufi tradition. By placing transducers within the walls, the architecture itself becomes a resonating body—transforming the space into a unique sonic landscape.
