GLAD platform
Design and development of a digital system for collecting knowledge about Breton cultural heritage

Back in 1964, the wealth of local heritage led André Malraux to choose Brittany as the location for one of the first two Inventory departments in France, and to attach it to his Ministry of Cultural Affairs. For more than 50 years, the Inventory has been exploring all areas of Brittany's heritage, whether immovable or movable, public or private, tangible or intangible.
The Region's ambition to encourage the development of partnership-based practices around heritage inventory surveys led to the creation of the first collaborative heritage inventory application in 2010. Its use has made it possible to implement new inventory operations totalling 130,000 inventory files and over 200,000 photographs.

In 2021, the Brittany Region has entrusted reciproque with the design and production of a complete overhaul of the digital interface of the ‘GLAD’ application (‘heritage’ in Breton) to make it more accessible, more efficient and more usable on a daily basis by its users.
The new application incorporates the components of the Region's digital infrastructure, while migrating all the existing content to all web-enabled devices.
Available at the end of 2023 on the Apple and Android Stores, as well as in a web version, the new GLAD application will offer a map-based interface for consulting and searching content, contribution forms and transparent data validation processes, as well as exchange tools to encourage collaboration within the community.
The GLAD project is funded as part of the European Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic (ERDF REACT-EU fund).
